What is ART?
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is an evidenced-based form of psychotherapy that utilizes back and forth eye movements to help clients address common problems such as depression, anxiety, phobias and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It is not the same as EMDR, however they both use eye movements. It was created by an EMDR Therapist of 30 years, Laney Rosenzweig. She created a more modern and faster approach. EMDR can be lengthy and time consuming. In her own words, Laney states, "ART is designed so that treatment will be fully completed as soon as possible. Many clients are freed of their problem within one session. Why keep clients in pain any longer than necessary? A long-drawn-out therapy done with many sessions often will cause the client distress during the therapy and in between sessions, lead to nightmares and cause a frustrated client to leave the treatment unfinished. The ART therapist is in a relaxed but goal-oriented state, to achieve what their goal is in that session if possible."
Clients love this modality because it's not talk heavy. You are not required to share details of the trauma that may be too painful to share.
Memories from a traumatic event can get stuck on a loop and play repeatedly in your mind. Fortunately, the brain knows how to heal itself but it may need some help.
ART works with a natural process in the brain called Memory Reconsolidation. The traumatic memory will not be erased, and you will retain the facts of what happened. However your triggers, negative images and sensations can quickly vanish.
A.R.T. works by changing how the traumatic memory is stored in the brain. It is highly effective in helping you get your life back.
YES, it can be done 100% remotely on Telehealth.
